With the AOC CQ27G1 you get a 27-inch monitor that is not that extreme with its 1800R curvature and does a lot of things right. Thanks to the incredibly low input delay, the fast response time and its 144hz refresh rate, it is ideal for fast gaming.
In addition, the VRR technology FreeSync is supported to reduce tearing in games. Its VA panel offers you a very good contrast ratio, which leads to deep black tones. However, this is at the expense of the viewing angles, which are poor and lose image accuracy when you look at the monitor from the side (but who does that with a curved monitor).
The lack of HDR support may disappoint some people, but the CQ27G1 has impressive color accuracy and displays a very wide range of colors in SDR. However, where it leaves feathers are its peak brightness values. At around 265 cd / m² (candelas per square meter – measures the brightness) the monitor is quite dim and in sRGB mode this number falls further to 228 cd / m².
This makes the display a bit difficult to see in rooms with bright ambient light, and worse, it drops to 68 cd / m² when the response time is set to Boost mode using the OSD. The BenQ EX3203R offers a very good price-performance ratio, especially since you get a curved QHD monitor with ingenious performance and a size of 32 inches.
For a monitor that is largely geared towards gaming, the design of the EX3203R is cautious (which some of you might even like). The panel is housed in a matte gray and black housing with almost invisible bezels on the sides and top, making it a good choice for a multi-monitor setup.
The silver V-shaped stand offers height and tilt adjustability, but cannot be swiveled or rotated. However, the shaft of the stand has a large hole through which you can put your cables – practical thing.
Unfortunately, all connections are located on the back of the case and point downwards. This is very impractical, especially since you cannot rotate the display to portrait format. If you don’t like fumbling around, this is probably a knockout criterion. At least there are enough of them with two HDMI 2.0 inputs, a DisplayPort input, a USB Type-C port, two USB 3 ports and an audio output jack.
But where the BenQ can really score is the gaming performance. With its 144hz refresh rate, a low response time and an extremely low input lag, it is perfect for any game. In addition, there is the support of Freesync 2, which means you are well equipped.

With the Samsung CHG 90 we have the first exotic in our curved gaming monitor comparison. Because this giant corresponds to two 1080p monitors set up side by side. For gaming, of course, extremely awesome, but the space on the screen is also usable otherwise.
With regard to the rather low pixel density, just consider that this beast is less suitable for word processing. So if you want to write your bachelor thesis on it, that could be a problem for your eyes. But if you want to use the CHG90 purely for gaming, you will hardly notice anything.
The stand rests on a sturdy V-shaped base that is unusually wide (32 inches) and matches the extreme width of the panel. There is height, swivel and tilt adjustment, of course no turning.
Due to the high native contrast, the image quality is above average and the very large color gamut enables clean and very lively HDR content. It’s safe to say that the CHG90’s HDR performance is above average for both videos and games. However, videos will only take up half of the screen. So if you watch a lot of films, you should perhaps choose one of the other recommendations.
In addition, there is the high refresh rate, low input delay and FreeSync 2 support. These ensure that you have no problems whatsoever when gaming and that everything runs smoothly. All in all a very good curved gaming monitor, but unfortunately a bit more expensive.

You don’t have space for a 49-inch device and want a higher pixel density with G-Sync support? Then check out the Acer Predator Z35P. But be warned: Again, you need a lot of space on your desk, because this monitor is a beast.
The stand alone devours a lot from a large desk, but it is very robust and stylish. Two metal feet protrude a lot, which can make placing a gaming keyboard in the standard layout a real challenge. Adjustability is not saved here: 13cm in height, 20 degrees swivel and 32.5 degrees inclination. There are also VESA holes on the back for wall mounting.
Under the hood, the Z35P uses a curved VA panel with a nice mix of low response time, low lag, good viewing angles and extremely good color rendering. Only when it comes to contrast, it can convince with 2500:1 natively less, because you get more with other models. The uniformity of the black values also leaves a lot to be desired and is not ideal, especially in very dark rooms.
In gaming, however, a combination of G-Sync, 120hz (in overdrive mode), an immersive 3440 x 1440 resolution, the good response time and the low input lag ensure an outstanding experience. Accordingly, the Z35P is more than worth the money and offers you the best compromise in this price range.

This 21:9 QHD beast with 34 inches is one of the few on the market that has extremely good response times and a low signal delay despite the IPS panel. This allows you to take full advantage of the 160hz refresh rate and can keep up with TN panels – ideal for gaming. On top of that there is Freesync2 support and G-Sync compatibility, what more could you want?
In addition, the LG 34GN850-B has a decent build quality. Despite its all-plastic construction, it is quite robust and the stand is stable, only the cutout for the cable management feels a bit fragile. Unfortunately, the monitor can only be adjusted in height and can be tilted a little, there are no more functions here.
In terms of image quality, you can enjoy all the advantages of an IPS panel here: high maximum brightness, extremely beautiful and accurate color representation, and stable viewing angles (all of this also in HDR). Unfortunately, as with all IPS panels, the contrast is lower, which means that you don’t get optimal black values in particularly dark scenes.
All in all, the LG 34GN850-B is a very good all-rounder for all application scenarios. So if you are looking for a 34 inch curved gaming monitor with an IPS panel, you will be happy with this. Insofar as you can afford it, because the part is expensive.

The FHD resolution of the CHG90 from above is not good enough for you, but you still want a super ultrawide curved gaming monitor with 49 inches? Then the CRG9 from Samsung is exactly your thing.
The CRG9 is a hefty curved monitor with 5120 x 1440 resolution and HDR 1000. And it’s also incredibly expensive, but with these specs, that’s no surprise.
As soon as you have made a lot of space on your desk (although the base is smaller than the CHG90), you really get something on offer here. The processing quality is flawless, only the adjustability is a bit limited when pivoting and tilting.
In terms of picture quality, the Samsung CRG9 can convince with an exceptionally good picture. And that without messing around with the settings. Although the contrast is not perfect despite the VA panel, you still get a razor-sharp image with excellent color reproduction. The CRG9 scores with its 1000 nits, especially with HDR content.
Of course, it is also perfect for gaming with its 120hz, 4ms response time and 5ms input lag. However, if you want to play the latest games on this thing, you have to be prepared that many of them don’t support the 32: 9 aspect ratio. This will give you black bars on the side of games like Sekiro. However, you can modify most games to work with such displays.
If you have the money and the necessary hardware, the Samsung CRG9 definitely does what it promises.

The Dell Alienware AW3420DW is a stunning ultrawide gaming monitor with a stylish design and native G-SYNC support. It has a curved 34-inch screen that enables an incredible gaming experience. In addition, with its 1440p resolution it is also very suitable for work purposes. Sure, the Acer model from above also offers you G-Sync, but you get a slightly better gaming performance here.
Nevertheless, the IPS panel has some disadvantages here too, mainly due to its low contrast ratio and its below-average black uniformity. Nevertheless, the Alienware convinces with its good response time to 120hz and a low input lag when gaming.
The processing quality is also excellent. Although the monitor is mostly made of plastic, it feels solid and sturdy. The stand supports the monitor well and nothing wobbles unnecessarily. Curved Gaming Monitors: Things to keep in mind
When curved displays first hit the market, most people thought it was just a gimmick and a fad that wasn’t worth the extra cost. And while this is partly true for televisions, it is a completely different story for monitors.
Why exactly are curved monitors more useful than curved televisions and what are the advantages and disadvantages of curved monitors compared to flat screens?
If you are still not entirely sure whether a curved gaming monitor is really the right one for you, then take a closer look at the following sections.
Of course, there are other important things to consider when it comes to gaming monitors, but we will cover these in our general buying guide for the best gaming monitors.
Curvature and radius of curvature explained
First we explain what different curvature radius values mean, for example information such as 1000R, 1500R or 1900R.
The following applies: The lower the number in front of the “R”, the steeper or stronger the screen curvature. The R here simply stands for “radius” and indicates the distance between the circle radius and the center of the circle in millimeters.
For example, 1800R refers to a radius of 1800 mm or 1.8 m. So if you were to make a circle from several curved 1800R monitors, the radius of that circle would be 1.8 m.
In addition, the curvature rating indicates the optimal viewing distance. With a curved 2000R monitor, you can only take full advantage of the curvature if you are no more than 2 meters away from the screen.
Some curved gaming monitors even come with a 1000R curvature, which should correspond to the curvature of the human eye in order to enable even more immersion (immersion in the game).
Why curved monitors are not comparable to curved TVs
Unlike curved televisions, which usually have subtle curvatures of 4000R, most curved monitors have more pronounced curvatures. This makes sense because you sit further away from a television than from a monitor.
However, you can only make optimal use of a curved screen if you are sitting directly in front of it – difficult with a TV, especially when several people are sitting in front of it. Therefore, it quickly becomes clear why the curved design makes little sense in TVs and is quite unpopular.
But you don’t have these problems with curved monitors, because you usually sit alone in front of them. Additionally, curved monitors aren’t necessarily more expensive than flat-panel displays. Often, curved panels are used for budget gaming monitors that are actually cheaper than their flat panel counterparts.
How useful the curvature of a monitor is, of course, depends mainly on the size and radius of curvature of the display.
Small curved monitors that are 24 and 27 inches in size usually have a curvature of 1500R or 1800R, which isn’t even that noticeable due to their small screen size.
For curved monitors that are 32 inches or larger, the curve will be more noticeable, especially if it is 1500R or steeper.
What are the benefits of curved monitors?
First of all: only with ultrawide (21:9) or super ultrawide (32:9) monitors is a curvature more or less necessary for an impressive experience. It is still welcome for other sizes or aspect ratios. But why? The main advantages would be these:
- A feeling of “immersion” in the game arises
- More pleasant viewing for the eye
- Less distortion at the edge of the screen
- More realistic picture
Because of the added width of curved monitors, the curvature brings the edges of the screen closer to you, covering more of your peripheral vision.
This gives the picture extra depth as you can see more of the screen at once without having to move your eyes or head too much. This improves both immersion and eye comfort, and also removes distortion at the edges of the screen.
What are the disadvantages of curved monitors?
The main disadvantage of curved monitors are the viewing angles because, as mentioned, you can only achieve the optimal “viewing experience” if you sit directly in front of it.
So if you’re looking to watch a movie from your bed and your curved monitor isn’t aimed at it, the image quality may not be ideal. Especially if the monitor has a VA panel with poor viewing angles.
This of course depends on the screen size and curvature of the monitor as well as the angle at which you are looking at the screen.
Also, curved monitors are less suitable for professional graphic design or things like 2D and 3D modeling. As long as the curvature isn’t too strong, that shouldn’t be a problem either.
