Assumed electricity price: 25 cents per kWh. So you end up with electricity costs of 7.5 cents for the 6 hours mentioned.

These expenses are quite reasonable for a few cool hours, especially since a fan is usually not used around the clock. But beware: cheap devices from discounters are often power guzzlers!

However, as already mentioned, different models naturally have different wattages. These are also different depending on the manufacturer and processing.

Basically, however, the types can be divided into the following wattages:

  • Desk fan approx. 30 watts

  • Floor fan approx. 50 watt

How much space does a fan need?

The space occupied by a fan depends on the type and the device itself.

Does a fan really cool the air?

No, a fan does not cool! A fan can cool us humans, but it cannot lower the indoor climate.

We humans are usually warmer than the air around us and therefore we give off heat through our skin.

The layer of air directly above our skin serves as an insulator of heat, so to speak. However, we cool down faster when a fan is constantly blowing away this warm layer.

Sweating also helps our bodies cool down. Sweat evaporates and thus we cool down. A fan additionally blows away the humid air.

Thus, it makes no sense to run the fan when no one is in the room.

A timer function makes a fan suitable for the bedroom. However, if you want to use the fan in another room, a timer is not so important – but it is definitely an advantage.

Depending on where the fan will be placed, the size plays an important role.

Number of Blades
