What do you need to use it?
Basically, an SDXC card should work in any reader that was built after 2010. However, in order to be able to use the full capacity of the SDXC card, you should have a fully compatible reader that is equipped with USB 3.0.

It does, however, impose a certain limitation. Memory cards with a UHS-1 memory technology can thus have a maximum reading speed of 150 Mbit / s. Such a speed is sufficient for most activities.

The most important decision is the storage capacity of the SDXC card. An SDXC card can store between 32GB and 2TB of data, depending on the storage capacity.
You should choose the storage capacity depending on the amount of data you want to save. For photos and videos with very high resolutions, you need more storage space and should therefore use a card with a higher storage capacity.
Physical size / form factor
Depending on which devices the SDXC card is to be used for, you have to consider which size is required.
For use in smartphones, e.g. a micro SDXC card is required to supplement the existing storage space. In contrast, most other devices require a classic SDXC card. In any case, you should check which card size is required on the device in advance.
For universal use in smartphones and notebooks, the purchase of a micro SDXC card in combination with an adapter for the classic SD card has proven itself. This is often included with the purchase of a micro SD card.
Attention: Not all devices have an SD slot! Accordingly, an additional card reader is required for such devices.
Storage technology (UHS-1/2)
Basically, it can be said that UHS-1 memory cards are sufficient for most activities, as they already allow a high reading speed and can be used in all devices. Such a high speed is only required to create 6K or 8K films and there are very few cameras for that.
However, if you have a device that is already UHS-2 compatible, such a memory card is worthwhile, especially if the desired images and videos are to have a high resolution.
Write and read speed
Classifications in so-called classes are used to determine the minimum writing speed. Class 6 indicates a speed of 6 MB / s and the classes accordingly go up to class 10 (i.e. 10 MB / s). The class number is given in a C for “class”.
In the meantime, a classification of UHS classes has also been introduced, which starts at UHS1 or U1 (10 MB / s) and goes up to U3 (30 MB / s). This higher minimum write speed of 10 MB / s for class U1 can already guarantee a read speed of 104 MB / s. Class U3, on the other hand, even has a read speed of over 600 MB / s. A UHS-1 card can also have a higher UHS speed class. The UHS class number is given in a U.
There are also divisions into video classes. These start with V6 and go through V10, V30 and V60 up to V90. While V6 can already guarantee full HD recordings, an SDXC card with V90 rating can already write 8K recordings.
Attention: Manufacturers like to explicitly state the maximum reading speed, which is significantly higher than the writing speed.
The writing speed of the memory card can be of great importance, especially for people who want to save recordings with high resolutions. So if you want to save 4K recordings, for example, or copy films back and forth, an SD card with a higher write speed is highly recommended. For easy reading of the data (even of larger amounts of data such as films) any current card should actually be sufficient, since the average class of current SDXC cards is already very high with class 10.
Apart from these purchase criteria, there are numerous other properties that an SDXC card can fulfill. If necessary, you can also pay attention to this. Special features of SDXC cards include:

Deactivate or set the SDXC card write protection

- Insert the SD card and right-click on the storage medium.
- Next click on “Properties”, “Sharing”, “Advanced Sharing”, “Share this folder” and then on “Permissions”.
- Now a check mark next to the term “full access” must be set and the whole thing must be confirmed with “OK”.
Partition SDXC Card
An SDXC card can be partitioned like any other storage medium. Partitioning is basically a division of storage space into two or more equal or unequal parts. It has the effect that when you insert a memory card into a reader, you see two memory cards. This allows individual data to be protected more easily and the internal memory of reading devices to be relieved.

Copy / clone SDXC Card
